Basketball Recap: Mccook Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

McCook hadn't done well against Alliance recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The McCook Bison walked away with a 42-31 victory over the Alliance Bulldogs. Given the Bison's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 227th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Alliance lost, don't look at Macey Seebohm. Despite the final result, she went 8 of 19 en route to 24 points in addition to eight steals and seven rebounds. That's the most steals Seebohm has posted since back in February of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for McCook and bumps their season record up to 14-7. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points over those games. As for Alliance, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-18.

Coming up, McCook will head out on the road to challenge Gering at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Gering is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.2 points per game this season. As for Alliance, they will be playing at home against Lexington at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
