Baseball Recap: Justin Garza Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Justin Garza's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Oakmont Vikings by a score of 8-3. For the Guardians, this counts as revenge for the 8-0 victory the Vikings walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.

Jayden Sanchez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off nine hits. Sanchez was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Justin Garza let Cain Soria and Isaac Perales run wild. Soria went 1-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Perales went 2-for-3 with two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Soria a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brody Griffin, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Justin Garza kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win snapped Justin Garza's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-9 record. As for Oakmont, they moved to 9-9 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Justin Garza wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 12-9 victory against Highland on the 1st. As for Oakmont, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 8-0 loss against Clovis on the 31st.
