The Navarro Panthers will face off against the Wimberley Texans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Navarro sitting on five straight victories and Wimberley on ten.
Last Friday, Navarro was able to grind out a solid win over Bandera, taking the game 9-4. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly five runs.
Colt Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Brown was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Navarro got a massive performance out of Elijah Farley, who went 2-for-5 with two triples, three RBI, and one run. Those triples marked the first that Farley hit this season. Noah Rosas was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Navarro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Wimberley sidestepped Fredericksburg for a 7-5 victory.
Like Navarro, Wimberley also got a great game from a two-way player: Jaden Hall. On the mound, he tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Hall has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other pitching news, Jackson Parker looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Ty Thames was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Maverick Jacobs, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Wimberley's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Navarro, their win bumped their record up to 17-2.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Navarro hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .387. However, it's not like Wimberley struggles in that department as they've averaged .315. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Navarro was able to grind out a solid victory over Wimberley in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, winning 6-3. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Texans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
