Basketball Game Preview: Crownpoint Eagles vs. Thoreau Hawks

It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Crownpoint Eagles duke it out with the Thoreau Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday... Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Crownpoint is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest loss since December 19, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 55-35 to Navajo Prep. Crownpoint hasn't had much luck with Navajo Prep recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Courtney Craig, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Miley McMillan, who posted nine points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Thoreau was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 41-37 to Wingate.

Crownpoint now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Thoreau, they now also have a losing record at 9-10.

Crownpoint took a serious blow against Thoreau in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 67-38. Can Crownpoint avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
