Volleyball Recap: Saugus Centurions vs. Village Christian Crusaders

Saugus lost against Village Christian back in August of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Centurions fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 3-2. The loss was the Centurions' first of the season.

Saugus actually scored more points across those five sets (103-99), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 15-25, 26-24, 25-15, 17-25, 16-14.

When it comes to explaining why Saugus lost, don't look at Emily Tran. Despite the final result, she had ten digs and two aces. Tran is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Leanna Pimentel, who had 14 digs.

Village Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Izzy Aragon out in front who had 19 digs and one assist. Another player making a difference was Allexa Valencia, who had 19 assists and nine digs.

Having lost for the first time this season, Saugus fell to 10-1. As for Village Christian, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Saugus will head out to face off against Crescenta Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, Village Christian and San Marino will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
