Volleyball Recap: Donovan Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Donovan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Clifton Central Comets. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Comets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Donovan sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 21-25, 25-22.

Layne Hefflefinger paced Donovan's offense, picking up 11 kills. Hefflefinger got some help from Lily Anderson and her 18 assists. Hefflefinger also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Chloe Ponton, racking up four apiece.

Donovan now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Clifton Central, their win bumped their record up to 6-11.

Looking ahead, Donovan will challenge Dwight at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Clifton Central, they will square off against Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
