Softball Recap: Weeki Wachee's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

After flying high against Fivay last Thursday, Weeki Wachee came back down to earth. The Hornets lost 8-1 to the Zephyrhills Bulldogs on Friday. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2021.

Weeki Wachee saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austyn Childs, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Weeki Wachee's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-9. As for Zephyrhills, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-8.

Coming up, Weeki Wachee will host Crystal River at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Zephyrhills, they will head out to challenge Hernando at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Leopards have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season.
