Basketball Game Preview: Schaumburg Saxons vs. Fremd Vikings

Schaumburg is 2-8 against Fremd since February of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Schaumburg Saxons will face off against the Fremd Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Schaumburg will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Conant, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Schaumburg came out on top against Conant by a score of 74-64 on Thursday. 74 seems to be a good number for the Saxons as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Meanwhile, Fremd entered their tilt with Palatine on Thursday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They walked away with a 57-47 victory over the Pirates. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Pirates are ranked 101st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Schaumburg's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-7. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Fremd, their record is now 19-2.

Schaumburg came up short against Fremd in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 72-60. Can Schaumburg avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
