Manalapan extended the longest winning streak in Shore - North A this week by beating Colts Neck, 24-21. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Braves.
Manalapan was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting the Cougars. Ed Gurrieri's team came in at 18 in the state poll after placing at number 28 last week.
Colts Neck's dynamic duo of Mike Campbell and Connor Canonico proved tough for the Braves to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Campbell threw for 169 yards and two touchdowns and Canonico had 87 yards receiving. Tim Vangelas helped Colts Neck's passing attack out by catching four balls for 49 yards.
Tyler Leonetti was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 29 carries, he ran for 119 yards as Manalapan lost to Manalapan. Dave Debner also contributed to the rushing game with 55 yards on the ground.
On the ground, the Cougars' Anthony Gargiulo has rushed for 744 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Vangelas. The Colts Neck star has 27 catches for 547 yards.
A big matchup in Shore - North A this week will be when Freehold Township takes on Colts Neck. As it stands, the Patriots are in sixth, while the Cougars are in third.
Middletown South took down Marlboro 35-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
