Football Game Preview: Anderson-Shiro Fighting Owls vs. New Waverly Bulldogs + How To Watch

The Anderson-Shiro Fighting Owls are taking a road trip to challenge the New Waverly Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Last Friday, Anderson-Shiro had to suffer through a 62-7 loss at the hands of Newton. While losing is never fun, the Fighting Owls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 740th, while the Eagles are ranked 286th).

Meanwhile, New Waverly fell victim to Newton and their airtight defense on Friday. They were dealt a 54-0 defeat at the hands of the Eagles. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

New Waverly's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Anderson-Shiro, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Everything came up roses for Anderson-Shiro against New Waverly in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 43-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Fighting Owls since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
