Baseball Game Preview: Forest Wildcats vs. Mount Dora Canes

The Forest Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Mount Dora Canes at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Forest is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Buchholz on Tuesday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (12-0), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. They haven't had much luck with the Bobcats recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Meanwhile, Mount Dora had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Canes have posted against the Bulldogs since March 31, 2022.

Charlie Antunez looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mount Dora secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Brady Smith, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Forest's defeat dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Mount Dora, their win bumped their record up to 13-7.
