Football Recap: North Fort Myers' Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

North Fort Myers dropped down to 4-4 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a 32-14 bruising from the Dunbar Tigers. If the Red Knights were looking for revenge after losing 52-38 to the Tigers when the teams met back in November of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, North Fort Myers still got an impressive performance from Christian Weber, who rushed for 123 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Weber also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Red Knights are 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise.

As for Dunbar, their record is now 6-2. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their 12-point performance the game before.

Dunbar's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tylen Gore, who rushed for 108 yards and one score on only ten carries. Gore's longest rush was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another player making a difference was Andre Moss, who picked up 109 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Coming up, North Fort Myers is taking a road trip to face off against Riverdale at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Red Knights surely won't give up without a fight. As for Dunbar, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against South Fort Myers at 7:30 p.m. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Gore and Arthur Gallishaw.
