Baseball Recap: Northwest Takes a Loss

Northwest extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 5-14 in the process. They lost 10-0 to the Hillsboro Hawks. If the Lions were looking for revenge after losing 5-0 to the Hawks when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Northwest saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Hawkins, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Hillsboro, the victory got them back to even at 10-10. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

On Hillsboro's side, Jackson Marks looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Marks has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aidan Roland, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Hillsboro: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was George Heine, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Coming up, Northwest is taking a road trip to face off against Oakville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hillsboro, they will welcome Central at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hawks are on a four-game streak of home wins, the Tigers a three-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
