League recap: North Surry climbs in standings with win

2A Conference 7 recap September 4, 2013

North Surry was the team made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from third to first in 2A Conference 7. The Greyhounds vanquished Elkin 44-27 earlier in the week.

Forbush scaled the state rankings by moving to 336 from 367 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Falcons climbed the ranks as a result of beating North Iredell 3-0.

West Stokes's dynamic duo of Alex Manley and Ricky Kirchenbauer proved to be unstoppable against Reagan, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Manley threw for 105 yards and Kirchenbauer had 71 yards receiving.

The Wildcats' dynamic duo of Manley and Kirchenbauer proved tough for the Raiders to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Manley put up the best numbers in passing as West Stokes lost to Reagan.

Carson Fulp was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 17 carries, he ran for 76 yards as Forbush lost to the Raiders. Teammate Jordan Sawyers added to the ground attack by rushing for 64 yards.

Kirchenbauer was the best wideout in 2A Conference 7 this week as the Wildcats fell to Reagan.

West Stokes' Manley and Kirchenbauer have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Manley has thrown for 171 yards this season, while Kirchenbauer, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 5 catches for 106 yards. North Surry's Blaze Acord leads the league in rushing yards with 196.

Carver took down R.J. Reynolds 50-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
