How to watch: MaxPreps Game of the Week features DeSoto vs. Duncanville in Texas showdown

Dallas-area powers set to square off in rivalry that dates back to 1972.

The MaxPreps Game of the Week heads to Texas as Duncanville hosts DeSoto in a matchup of Dallas-area rivals.

The schools sit 10 miles apart and first met in 1972. Duncanville has won six of the last seven matchups and leads the all-time series 18-16.

Duncanville (2-1) is ranked No. 3 in Texas and No. 36 in our expanded top 100. The Panthers were ranked No. 10 in the nation before falling to Waxahachie 28-27 on Sept. 19, surrendering a 27-9 lead in the third quarter.

Junior quarterback Maximus The Great Denson has thrown eight touchdowns against one interception. Five of his receivers have caught a touchdown through three games including Trenton Yancey, Emmanuel Ellison and Ayson Theus, who each have two scores.

DeSoto (3-2) is ranked No. 85 in our expanded top 100. Since starting the season with losses to Creekside (Fairburn, Ga.) and North Crowley (Fort Worth), the Eagles have won three straight including a 40-17 win over Waxahachie.

SaRod Baker rushed for 220 yards and three touchdowns in the win over Waxahachie and has nine scores on the season. The junior has 18 scholarship offers including Auburn, Pitt and TCU.



The rivals have been elite over the past decade with both winning back-to-back state titles in 2022 and 2023.
