Basketball Recap: South Skates Past Arkansas City with Ease

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely South's strategy against Arkansas City on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the South Cougars blew the Arkansas City Bulldogs out of the water with a 72-45 final score. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2020.

Jace Humphrey went supernova for South, almost dropping a double-double on 25 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kobie Henley, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 15 points.

South smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since the start of last season.

The win got South back to even at 1-1. As for Arkansas City, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

South has already played their next contest, a 63-59 loss against Salina Central on the 13th. Arkansas City and Andover Central will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on December 17th.
