Football Recap: Cathedral Catholic Extends Winning Streak to Five

Cathedral Catholic had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 25-21 W against the Patrick Henry Patriots. Given the Dons' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Patriots are ranked 302nd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cathedral Catholic was led to victory by Sienna Willard and Sabrina Jutronich. Willard gained 159 total yards and two touchdowns, while Jutronich rushed for 22 yards and two touchdowns. What's more, Jutronich racked up 164 passing yards, the most she's had since back in August.

Cathedral Catholic didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Charlotte Castagnola and Anna Janis.

Cathedral Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Patrick Henry, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cathedral Catholic will head out to challenge Mira Mesa at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Patrick Henry, they will venture away from home to square off against San Marcos at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights' defense has only allowed 12.8 points per game this season, so the Patriots' offense will have their work cut out for them.
