League recap: East Rowan stuns West Iredell in upset

The biggest upset of the week belonged to West Iredell, who took down 241st ranked West Iredell, 30-7.

Statesville was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating North Iredell 42-0. The Greyhounds came in at 23 in the state poll after placing at number 36 last week.

Statesville's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tristan Mumford threw for 307 and one touchdown and Marquis Willis had 84 yards receiving. On the ground Mumford chipped in 51 yards. Brevin Renwick helped Statesville's passing attack out by catching four balls for 71 yards.

Statesville's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Greyhounds feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Carlis Parker has thrown for 710 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Jaylan Williams has 12 catches for 337 yards. Parker also leads the league in rushing with 569 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when East Rowan takes on West Rowan. The Mustangs are currently in third, while the Falcons are in first.

West Rowan suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after a 44-12 loss to West Rowan. The Falcons had been ranked 16th, but fell to 36 following the defeat.
