Basketball Recap: Central Takes a Loss

Central was the 60-57 winner over Will Rogers College when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Central Braves took a 75-60 bruising from the Will Rogers College Ropers on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Braves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 266th, while the Ropers are ranked 36th).

Will Rogers College's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Branden Crosslen, who went 8-for-14 to rack up 23 points and five steals. Those 23 points gave Crosslen a new career-high. Jay Oates III was another key player, going 7-for-10 on his way to 17 points and eight rebounds.

Central has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. As for Will Rogers College, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-4.

Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Will Rogers College, they will square off against Memorial at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Memorial is on a six-game streak of home wins, Will Rogers College a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
