Basketball Recap: Lamar Comes Up Short

Lamar lost against East Rankin Academy last Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Lamar Raiders lost 60-36 to the East Rankin Academy Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while the Patriots are ranked seventh).

When it comes to explaining why Lamar lost, don't look at Aryah Grace. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Grace is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Hart, who posted nine points.

Lamar has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-11 record this season. As for East Rankin Academy, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 28-2.

Lamar will square off against Park Place Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Rankin Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
