Basketball Game Preview: Hoopeston Cornjerkers vs. Salt Fork Storm

The Hoopeston Cornjerkers will challenge the Salt Fork Storm at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hoopeston is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.4 points per game this season.

Hoopeston will head into Thursday's game out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. They lost 56-33 to Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin. The Cornjerkers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Trenton Montez put forth a good effort for the losing side as he went 8 for 13 on his way to 18 points.

Meanwhile, Salt Fork earned a 37-28 win over Georgetown-Ridge Farm on Thursday.

Hoopeston's defeat dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Salt Fork, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Hoopeston skirted past Salt Fork 51-48 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hoopeston since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
