Softball Game Preview: Dixie Flyers vs. Pine View Panthers

Dixie has gone 8-2 against Pine View recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Flyers will welcome the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Dixie is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

Dixie took a 16-run loss the last time they faced off against Enterprise, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Flyers had just enough and edged out the Wolves 9-8. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Flyers.

The team relied heavily on Cameron Hunt, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chesney Robbins, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Meanwhile, Pine View was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dixie.

Brenika Frandsen made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Genevieve Evans was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Dixie's win bumped their record up to 15-8. As for Pine View, their loss dropped their record down to 5-16.

Pine View's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Dixie has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Pine View, though, as they've been averaging 11.5 hits. Given Dixie's sizable advantage in that area, the Panthers will need to find a way to close that gap.
