Baseball Recap: Atherton Has No Trouble Against Kentucky Country Day

Atherton's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They blew past the Kentucky Country Day Bearcats 18-8. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Ravens considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Jaylin White looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jayden Stone and Max Hanke did most of the damage at the plate: Stone fired off two home runs and seven RBI while going 2-for-3, while Hanke went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those seven RBI gave Stone a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kenneth Whobrey, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Atherton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Atherton's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-5-1. As for Kentucky Country Day, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.

Atherton is taking a road trip to square off against Trinity at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Shamrocks' pitching crew has only allowed 1.1 runs per game this season, so the Ravens' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Kentucky Country Day, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m.
