Baseball Game Preview: Wahama White Falcons vs. Sherman Tide

The Wahama White Falcons will take on the Sherman Tide at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, Wahama put up the most runs they have all season on Wednesday. They fell just short of Ritchie County by a score of 13-12. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (11), the White Falcons still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Sherman had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past the Eagles 14-2. The result was nothing new for the Tide, who have now won five games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Brady Perdue and Luke Tagliente were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Perdue struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Tagliente tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Perdue went 1-for-3 with two RBI, while Tagliente scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Tagliente is becoming a predictor of Sherman's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Brayden Hamrick was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Oliver Harless was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Wahama has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games. As for Sherman, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3.

Everything went Wahama's way against Sherman in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Wahama made off with a 9-0 win. Do the White Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tide turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
