Marion is 9-1 against Independence since June of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Wolves will head out on the road to face off against the Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. Independence took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Marion, who comes in off a win.

On Thursday, Marion made easy work of Williamsburg and carried off a 10-1 victory. Considering the Wolves have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Independence's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Decorah-North Winneshiek.

The win made it two in a row for Marion and bumps their season record up to 19-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Independence, their loss dropped their record down to 21-9.

Marion beat Independence 6-3 when the teams last played back in June of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
