Baseball Recap: Juarez Comes Up Short

Juarez had lost four straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 4-12 to make it five. They lost 14-4 to the King Jaguars. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Jaguars earlier this season, when they won 13-12.

As for King, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-8 record. The contest marked their most dominant victory of the season.

For King's part, Sam Roma made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave Roma a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, King let Kennedy Baniba and Antwon King run wild. Baniba went 1-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while King went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Baniba is becoming a predictor of King's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 2-7 when he doesn't). Jhanius Walls was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Juarez will square off against Farragut at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The Admirals will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for King, they will challenge Dunbar at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
