Soccer Game Preview: Roosevelt vs. Garfield

The Roosevelt Rough Riders will take on the Garfield Bulldogs at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.

Friday just wasn't the day for Roosevelt's offense. They came up short against South East on Friday, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, the Rough Riders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 745th, while the Jaguars are ranked 83rd).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Garfield). Their defense stepped up to hand Bell a 6-0 shutout on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bulldogs needed considering they were shutout in their previous game.

Garfield's win bumped their record up to 5-3-1. As for Roosevelt, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9-1 record this season.

Roosevelt came out on top in a nail-biter against Garfield when the teams last played back in February of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Does Roosevelt have another victory up their sleeve, or will Garfield turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
