Softball Game Preview: Itasca Wampus Cats vs. Riesel Indians

For the second straight game, Itasca will face off against Riesel. The Wampus Cats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Itasca has given up an average of 12.6 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Itasca heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Wednesday. They came up short against Riesel, falling 14-0. The Wampus Cats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Riesel's part, the team relied heavily on Landri Pick (Georgia Tech), who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave Pick (Georgia Tech) a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sveva Mariotti, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Riesel lost a few balls and finished the game with five home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The victory was the 12th in a row for Riesel, bringing their record up to 19-4-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Itasca, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.
