Basketball Recap: Carthage Comes Up Short

Carthage lost against Pine Tree back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Carthage Bulldogs took a hard 57-41 fall against the Pine Tree Pirates. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1294th, while the Pirates are ranked 556th).

Carthage's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Pine Tree, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-12 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carthage has already played their next game (against Henderson), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Pine Tree will square off against Cumberland Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pine Tree is facing Cumberland Academy at the right time seeing as Cumberland Academy is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
