Preview: Brunswick Bulldogs vs. Brunswick Academy Vikings
The Brunswick Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Brunswick Academy Vikings at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Brunswick put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Franklin, posting a 56-29 win at home. Given Brunswick's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while Franklin is ranked 362nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brunswick Academy was handed a three-point defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Fuqua on Thursday. Brunswick Academy simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Fuqua 56-15 at home.
Brunswick Academy found their leader in underclassman Emily King, who scored 27 points. That makes it nine consecutive games in which King has scored at least a third of Brunswick Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Howerton, who scored 11 points.
Brunswick's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-0. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26.2 points. As for Brunswick Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.
