Softball Game Preview: Heyworth Hornets vs. Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs

The Heyworth Hornets will face off against the Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Heyworth is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

On Friday, Heyworth came up short against Brimfield and fell 6-2.

Gabby Dow spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Heyworth saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Haley Rogers, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Mahomet-Seymour unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 8-4 to Bloomington Central Catholic.

Heyworth's defeat dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Mahomet-Seymour, their loss dropped their record down to 11-14.

Heyworth beat Mahomet-Seymour 8-4 when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
