Football Game Preview: Baldwyn Bearcats vs. Hamilton Lions

The Baldwyn Bearcats will square off against the Hamilton Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

It was a proper cat-fight when Baldwyn duked it out with Hatley on Friday. The Bearcats really took it to the Tigers for the full four quarters, racking up a 53-18 win. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-12.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Calvin Price and Jourdan Crump. Price rushed for 104 yards and four TDs on only 12 carries while Crump rushed for 101 yards and a pair of scores. Those 104 rushing yards gave Price a new career-high. Brandon Johnson made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hamilton). They took their game on Thursday with ease, bagging a 49-22 victory over Walnut. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.

Baldwyn better keep an eye on Justin Verner. He was instrumental in Hamilton's win, rushing for 169 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 195 yards and a pair of TDs on only 14 passes. With that strong performance, Verner is now averaging an impressive 100.4 rushing yards per game.

Hamilton's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Baldwyn, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
