Basketball Recap: Cleveland Comes Up Short

If Cleveland was feeling good fresh off their 109-44 takedown of Whittier on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cavaliers were outmatched by the Crean Lutheran Saints and fell 92-55. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cavaliers of the 66-40 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2019.

Cleveland lost on Friday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Sergine Deme, who went 8-for-19 to rack up 17 points and eight boards. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmitt Claiborne, who shot 50% from the field en route to 15 points and six boards.

Cleveland's record is now 2-2. As for Crean Lutheran, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Cleveland has already played their next game, a 77-43 loss against Sierra Canyon on the 29th. As for Crean Lutheran, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 62-50 win against St. Bernard on the 29th.
