Basketball Recap: Cary Christian Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Cary Christian can now relate to. They lost 64-44 to the John Paul II Catholic Saints on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 324th, while the Saints are ranked 56th).

Despite the loss, Cary Christian saw an underclassman step up: freshman Lily Pintuff posted seven points along with six assists and six rebounds. Those six assists gave Pintuff a new career-high. Audrey Glupker was another key player, putting up two points and eight boards.

Cary Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for John Paul II Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 19 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 24-3 record this season.

Cary Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for John Paul II Catholic, they will square off against Asheville School (Independent) at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Asheville School (Independent) is coming into the game with eight straight victories at home, so John Paul II Catholic will have to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
