Basketball Recap: International Academy Beats Mumford for Their Fourth Straight Victory

International Academy waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 72-65 victory over the Mumford Mustangs. Given the Phoenix's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while the Mustangs are ranked 527th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

International Academy pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for Mumford, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

International Academy will face off against Atherton at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Mumford, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against South Lake at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. South Lake knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Mumford likes a good challenge.
