McDonogh and Calvert Hall are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2014, but not for long. The McDonogh Eagles will welcome the Calvert Hall Cardinals at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

McDonogh is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Mount St. Joseph 44-13 on the road. The win almost wasn't to be: the Eagles were down 13-0 in the third quarter.

It was another big night for Braeden Palazzo, who threw for 328 yards and five touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes. Jefferson Exinor Jr was Palazzo's top target, picking up 112 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Calvert Hall never got on the board in their matchup back in September, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Mount St. Joseph last Friday. They claimed a resounding 36-6 victory over the Gaels at home.

Oliver Noll and John Asuquo were among the main playmakers for Calvert Hall as the former threw for 204 yards and a touchdown and the latter gained 115 total yards and a touchdown. What's more, Asuquo also racked up 79 rushing yards, the mosthe's had since back in August of 2023.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Calvert Hall's defense and their five sacks. Kaleb Davis was especially locked on to Mount St. Joseph's QB and sacked him twice. Davis also set a new season high mark in total tackles with seven.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Calvert Hall, adding 12 points to the final score. All came courtesy of Ryan Zakroski: he went 3-for-3 kicking field goals for nine points, and 3-for-3 again kicking extra points for an additional three.

The win was the third in a row for McDonogh, bringing their record for this year to 6-1. As for Calvert Hall, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Everything came up roses for McDonogh against Calvert Hall when the teams last played back in October of 2023, as the team secured a 42-14 win. In that match, McDonogh amassed a halftime lead of 35-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
