Basketball Preview: Brilliant Tigers vs. Marion County Red Raiders
Brilliant is 0-10 against the Red Raiders since December of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Brilliant Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Marion County Red Raiders at 5:00 p.m. Brilliant is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
Even though Lamar County scored an imposing 59 points on Monday, Brilliant still came out on top. Brilliant managed a 63-59 victory over the Bulldogs. The victory was just what Brilliant needed coming off of a 51-29 defeat in their prior matchup.
Marion County has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a serious blow against Mars Hill Bible on Thursday, falling 66-29. Marion County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-16.
The losing side was boosted by Joe Aldridge, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Dalyce Floyd, who scored eight points.
Brilliant's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-15. As for Marion County, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 21-7.
Brilliant was dealt a bruising 69-39 loss at the hands of the Red Raiders in their previous matchup back in January. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Brilliant was down 43-15.
