Basketball Recap: Waukegan Skates Past Woodlands Academy with Ease

A well-balanced attack led Waukegan over Woodlands Academy in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Waukegan Bulldogs blew the Woodlands Academy Wildcats out of the water with a 56-15 final score. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while the Wildcats are ranked 540th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Hadassah Brown, who went 9-for-13 on her way to 20 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Waukegan's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alliaya Cade, who went 5-for-11 en route to 10 points along with five boards and four steals.

Waukegan was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodlands Academy only posted four assists.

The victory made it two in a row for Waukegan and bumps their season record up to 16-9. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.0 points over those games. As for Woodlands Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Coming up, Waukegan will take on Lake Forest at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Woodlands Academy, they will challenge Schaumburg Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
