Basketball Recap: Rapides Comes Up Short

Rapides was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were dealt a 73-31 defeat at the hands of the Oak Hill Rams. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-16.

Oak Hill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jodie Jowers led the charge by going 9 of 15 en route to 20 points along with five boards and four steals. The matchup was Jowers' third in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Amiah Courts, who went 7 for 12 on her way to 17 points and six rebounds.

Rapides' loss dropped their record down to 8-16. As for Oak Hill, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 27-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rapides will square off against Oakdale at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Oakdale knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Rapides likes a good challenge. As for Oak Hill, they will face off against Monterey at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
