Softball Recap: Africentric Early College Takes a Loss

Africentric Early College had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 1-10-1 to make it four. They came up short against the Marion-Franklin Red Devils, falling 19-9. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-6 back in April.

Neveah White was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Diora Pettiford also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

As for Marion-Franklin, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Considering they have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Marion-Franklin's side, the team relied heavily on Caitlynn McGee, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Dexter, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Africentric Early College has already played their next game, a 25-10 loss against Eastmoor Academy on the 16th. Marion-Franklin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
