Basketball Game Preview: Tahoka Bulldogs vs. Jayton Jaybirds

Having just played yesterday, the Tahoka Bulldogs will jump right back in to play the Jayton Jaybirds at 11:40 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Tahoka's tournament run continued when they took on Wellington on Friday. Tahoka escaped with a win against Wellington by the margin of a single free throw, 37-36. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Tahoka can attribute much of their success to Sacha Loi, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 17 rebounds. Brogan Stone was another key player, putting up ten points and seven rebounds.

Tahoka smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Jayton entered their tilt with Lubbock Christian on Saturday with 28 consecutive wins dating back to last season but they'll enter their next game with 29. Everything went their way against the Eagles as they made off with a 62-39 win.

Jayton's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 41.1 points. As for Tahoka, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.

Tahoka might still be hurting after the 67-46 defeat they got from Jayton in their previous meeting back in November of 2023. Can Tahoka avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
