Basketball Recap: Belfry's Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Belfry won the last time they faced Mingo Central and things went their way on Thursday too. The Belfry Pirates took down the Mingo Central Miners 81-65. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Pirates as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Belfry's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brody Little, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine assists. The dominant performance gave Little a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Estridge, who went 8 for 13 on his way to 25 points and three steals.

Little wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Belfry was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Belfry's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-11. As for Mingo Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.

Belfry won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Pike County Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Belfry is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.6 points per game this season. As for Mingo Central, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Robert C. Byrd at 12:00 p.m. on February 10th.
