Preview: McDowell Titans vs. Hibriten Panthers
McDowell has been on the road for three straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. Having just played yesterday, they will get right back to it and host the Hibriten Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on February 7th. Hibriten took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on McDowell, who comes in off a win.
McDowell stacked a 15th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They breezed by Enka on the road to the tune of 68-39. Given McDowell's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while Enka is ranked 381st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
McDowell found their leader in underclassman Khloe Joyner, who scored 15 points. Kensly Stewart was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, Hibriten ended up a good deal behind Ashe County on Tuesday and lost 61-46.
McDowell's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Hibriten, their loss dropped their record down to 15-4.
Things could have been worse for McDowell, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 64-50 loss to Hibriten when the teams last played back in November of 2023.
