Baseball Game Preview: Eugene Eagles vs. Fayette Falcons

The Eugene Eagles will face off against the Fayette Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Eugene has four straight victories, Fayette has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Eugene is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Prairie Home an 11-0 shutout on Monday. The Eagles not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 19, 2024.

Sam Schulte was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Garet Wood was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Eugene always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Fayette came up short against Salisbury on Friday, falling 10-3.

Thaddeus Quint was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Kaleb Friebe also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Eugene's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Fayette, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.

Everything went Eugene's way against Fayette in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, as Eugene made off with a 14-0 victory. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
