Basketball Recap: Genoa-Hugo/Karval Takes a Loss

Genoa-Hugo/Karval pushed their score to 35 the last time they played Stratton, but on Thursday they couldn't quite do it again. The Genoa-Hugo/Karval Pirates lost 37-14 to the Stratton Eagles. The Pirates have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Rylee Kelly was Genoa-Hugo/Karval's leading scorer, having posted six points. Rylee Corn held things down on the boards with eight rebounds.

Sophia Isenbart continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Stratton, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Isenbart is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Peyton Ruhs, who posted six points and four steals.

Genoa-Hugo/Karval's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Stratton, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-2.

Genoa-Hugo/Karval didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 34-13 win against Kiowa on the 8th. As for Stratton, they have also already played their next game, a 57-40 victory against Byers on the 8th.
