Baseball Recap: Santa Ynez Turns Things Around After Road Loss

Santa Ynez's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Carpinteria on Friday. The Pirates walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Warriors. This was a revenge game for the Pirates: when they faced off against the Warriors on Wednesday, they had to take a 3-1 defeat.

Kurran Kays made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Kays was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ben Flores, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tate Minus, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Santa Ynez's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games.
