Basketball Recap: Dominic Cox-Giles' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Quaker Valley over Central Valley

Quaker Valley has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a hard 63-45 fall against the Central Valley Warriors on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Quakers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while the Warriors are ranked 42nd).

Quaker Valley lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Dominic Cox-Giles, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 24 boards. Cox-Giles has been hot, having posted 13 or more rebounds the last five times he's played. Kolton Johnson was another key player, putting up ten points and seven boards.

Even though they lost, Quaker Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Quaker Valley's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Central Valley, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-1.

Coming up, Quaker Valley will face off against Shenango at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Central Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
