Baseball Recap: Kent County Takes a Loss

Kent County had lost four straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 2-12 to make it five. They came up short against the Queen Anne's County Lions, falling 19-0. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

As for Queen Anne's County, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games.

For Queen Anne's County's part, Ethan Keppler was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Keppler has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Caleb Sutch was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Queen Anne's County is undefeated when Sutch posts two or more runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Brooks Blodgett also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Kent County has already played their next matchup, a 4-1 defeat against Washington on the 5th. As for Queen Anne's County, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-1 victory against Cambridge-South Dorchester on the 5th.
