Football Recap: Roosevelt Drops Season-High Score on South Gate

Roosevelt scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 54-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Gate Rams. The Rough Riders were down 54-30 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Roosevelt lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jason Moreno, who rushed for 143 yards and a pair of scores. Jordan Nunez was in the mix too, providing Roosevelt with three touchdowns.

South Gate got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Michael Gonzalez out in front who threw for 228 yards and five TDs on only 18 passes. Nicholas Quintanilla was Gonzalez's top target, picking up 99 receiving yards and a pair of scores, while also rushing for 61 yards on only five carries.

Roosevelt's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for South Gate, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Coincidentally, Roosevelt and South Gate will both be playing Legacy the next time they take the field. The Rams will head out to face the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Rough Riders will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
