The Central Hardin Bruins will head out on the road to face off against the Warren East Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Central Hardin has three straight wins, Warren East has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Central Hardin is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Bethlehem with a sharp 17-2 victory on Saturday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Bruins with their most commanding win of the season.
Caleb Irwin was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Irwin was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Central Hardin got a massive performance out of Devin Hubbard, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. What's more, Hubbard posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Chase Price was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
Central Hardin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .650. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Warren East suffered their biggest defeat since April 13, 2024 on Friday. They lost 19-12 to Bowling Green.
William Alexander stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Brenden Bratcher, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Warren East's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Central Hardin, their record now sits at 4-6.
Everything went Central Hardin's way against Warren East when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Central Hardin made off with a 10-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Central Hardin since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
